A Bengaluru MTech graduate, Varsha, from Chamarajanagar district in Karnataka, has earned praise from Prime Minister Narendra Modi for her eco-friendly initiative, inspired by his radio program 'Mann Ki Baat.' During the recent episode of the monthly program, Modi commended Varsha for her entrepreneurial spirit, highlighting that her initiative has served as a source of motivation for many.
Varsha's venture, Akruthi Eco-Friendly Enterprises, utilizes banana stem fibers to create an array of sustainable products such as mats, mobile stands, pen stands, hats, and fridge covers. Hailing from Ummattur in Chamarajanagar, Varsha explained that her inspiration came from a 'Mann Ki Baat' episode during the Covid lockdown, where Modi discussed a Tamil Nadu-based businessman who successfully used banana fibers in his venture amid challenging times.
Expressing her delight at being recognized by the Prime Minister, Varsha conveyed her determination to take her eco-friendly business to new heights. Beyond her personal success, the initiative has contributed to job creation within the community, showcasing the positive impact of environmentally conscious entrepreneurship.
